When I was young, I had a mug with the quote in cursive writing. It was my favourite mug and when I drank from it I always felt that I could do anything.
That’s the power of language.
We feel the words and they speak to us. Does that make sense?
One of the reasons this quote spoke to me was because I often felt as though I was living my life the opposite. I was so self conscious and I REALLY cared what other people thought of me. And I wanted so much to be someone who lived as the quote described.
But, I couldn’t figure out how to translate the words into actually BEING like that.
It was like, I’d use the mug in the morning and think about what it would be like to live that way. Then a few hours later at school, I’d be thinking about putting up my hand in class to ask a question… but something was holding me back.
I was so caught up in what other people would think of me, that I wasn’t LIVING.
Instead, I was HIDING. Hiding in the shadows. Trying to become invisible…
What a way to live.
Hoping that no one would notice me.

It was like I wanted to live by this quote, but without any other people around.
This seems so strange to me now. These days I love being around people and find myself thriving in situations where I’m in the spotlight.
What changed, you ask?
So many things.
It took me a long time to figure out HOW to actually live this way… but now that I do… there’s no going back.
To know I can make decisions without worrying about what anyone else might think of me.
To be able to do the things I’ve always wanted to without caring too much who might see me.
This is what I call freedom.
Until I felt this way, it was like I was stuck. Held captive in a cage, not knowing how to escape.
